My name is Rick Baskerville.  I have been in the insurance and financial arena for more than 20 years. 

I started as a captive agent with a health insurance company.  This means I could only sell their product.  After being with them for a short time, I realized that there were better products out there.  Then I changed companies, but was still captive.    After learning a lot about health insurance, I went on to a major, well-known life insurance company and was trained to be an assistant manager.

 Next I was offered a General Broker Manager position with an insurance company in Chicago.  I accepted with the responsibility of directing 450 agencies and brokerages in 3 states.

But this was where my training was really gained because I worked with captive agents and non-captive agents called brokers.  In this office we were blessed in one year to go from #257 in the nation to #3.  I believed that this success was a blessing to us for having seminars with agents to show them how to appreciate the product they had in their very hands.  From this teaching and knowledge I gained as a broker manager, I discovered that being a broker instead of a captive agent allows you to provide the best products and vehicles for your clients.
